8. Choose your Keywords carefully
Your keywords must be relevant. Or else, you will recognize that many
non-target vistors click into your sites and then go away in the next
second. In addition, your webpages may only gain a very low ranking in
case your keywords are irrelevant to your content. Besides, use plurals
instead of singular word. Eg. If you use car instead of cars, surfers
may not find your website when they type cars in a search engine. Use
noun instead of verbs or adjective because people uses noun phrases more
often.
9. Buy keywords
Search engines like goto.com allow you bidding keywords. If you bid is
higher than other guys, you will be ranked no.1. I personally not agree
with these approaches because search engine registration is free in tradition.
However, it may be an irresistible trend. Hence, you can try it and see
if the result meets your expectation. I don't know whether it is true
or not but more and more people said that it works!
10. Page length is a factor
If John's webpage has 500 words and 10 of them are keywords, your keyword
density is 10/500=2%. If Peter's webpage has 250 words and 10 of them
are keywords, your keyword density is 10/250=4%. In no doubt, Peter's
webpage is ranked higher assuming that they use the same set of keywords.
Hence, you should not make your page too long or too short! (a feeling
of empty and visitor goes away)
