DO compliment yourself for having
the courage to try to do what you did. Most people don't even
try. You did. Hurray for you!!
DON'T berate yourself. It accomplishes
nothing, other than making your feel awful. Coming down hard on
yourself won't fix the problem.
DO remain confident. This was a glitch.
You know you can overcome it and move on. Have faith in yourself
that you will find a way to make this work.
DON'T ignore your mistakes. It happened.
Trying to ignore it won't make it go away. Deal with it today!
DO take the opportunity to learn
from this mistake. Examine it closely (but don't dwell forever
on it). Figure out what went wrong so you can prevent something
like this from happening again.
DON'T convince yourself that you
can't handle it. You can... one small step at a time. Break it
down to smaller bits and begin the repairing process.
DO take responsibility for what you
did. You did it, not the dog or the neighbor next door. Don't
try to blame someone or something else.
DON'T use your mistake as an excuse
to give up. There's always a solution somewhere. Find that solution.
You'll be proud of yoruself when you do.
DO any damage control that may be
necessary. Explain the situation to your customer and take full
responsiblity. Don't make excuses. Tell the customer what you
are doing to try to rectify the situation. Offer them a discount
or some freebie as good will.
DON'T expect sympathy, especially
from your clients.
DO try again, but use a different
tactic or plan of action. Remember, the defination of insanity
is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different
result.
